Community Canvas is an initiative presented by The Culture Show where GBH features artwork from community members on our Digital Mural.
Today’s mural by Alphonse DePalma is a portrait of the piping plover, a very small bird that has an important habitat in Mass.
“I am a birder, and enjoy doing portraits of birds,” DePalma says. “To put this small bird portrait on display at such a large scale is very fun and generates curiosity for the viewer.”
DePalma is a graphic designer from Boston. He has a B.A. in Psychology from Indiana University, and a Graphic Design Certificate from the SMFA at Tufts University. He is currently a Production Designer at Life is Good and is available for freelance projects.
